During the August Bank Holiday weekend, the whole team seemed to head to Blackpool, Mick to Tatcon Blackpool, and Hollie and Matt to The 4th British Beard & Moustache Championships. That’s right The British Beard & Moustache Championships (BBMC)!!! If you’ve never heard of this, you are about to be enlightened.
BBMC is held every 2 years and was hosted by the Sandgrown Beardsmen with the last 3 been held in Brighton, Bath and Liverpool. Matt has entered for the last 3 time but hasn’t placed in any. Although he has placed at other Beard Competitions, such as 1st Place at The Wessex Beardsman Comp this April, 1st Place at iBeardClub last year and various other placings in past Wessex comps and at The Oxford Beard Festival.
This year in Blackpool he only went and came 2nd in the Partial Beard Freestyle category, 2nd to a German competitor so actually the Best in Britain Partial Freestyle.
Mat was interviewed for the BBC News and had his picture in various online newspapers and in print in The I Newspaper, he’s also had the local press in, The Sentinel and Leek Post & Times taking pictures, we don’t know how he’s going to get his head through the door lol
Next year Matt plans to travel to Antwerp in Belgium to compete against the world’s best at the World Beard and Moustache Championships.
